Super Bowl Food Ideas - Whether You Like Football or Not

Super Bowl 52
means celebration to most and borderline annoyance to some.

Regardless of the attachment to the two teams, the commercials seem to bring intrigue to a level of their own. The halftime show with JT should be entertaining.
Through the years we have all been shaped and molded watching the playoffs wondering who will end up in the Big Game. The emotions of it all, the let downs and miracle moments, the insanity and craze that is everywhere, we really have created our own memory cells all around the pigskin.
Bets have been placed and are still happening on various levels.
Our bet this year is that New England will actually score in the first quarter.
While the Eagles and Patriots bring it to the amazing U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, our thought process is now turning towards food and drinks for the Big Game.

If you are hosting or attending a party with friends and family, being prepared with food and beverages is important so you don't have to waste time in the kitchen.
Even if you choose to watch the big game in the privacy of your own home, might as well make it an enjoyable night, regardless of the outcome.
Here are some of our favorite and delicious ideas for Super Bowl Night, and yes, it is this Sunday!

Tortilla Soup for a Football Watching Group
Saute a large onion (chopped) and 4-5 garlic cloves (minced) in a good Tablespoon of olive oil
(Optional: add a chopped jalapeno or poblano chile (seeded))
Add 12 Cups of Chicken Broth, the juice of one lime and 1 Large Can of Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes
Next add 1 teaspoon of ground cumin, 1/2 teaspoon red chile flakes and 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
Add 2 pounds of shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works great here too)
Bring to a boil then down to a simmer for 20 minutes

Serve with sides of cilantro, sour cream, diced avocados, lime wedges, shredded cheese (Mexican blend or cheddar) and your favorite tortilla chips or strips

8-10 Layer Dip :)
Who doesn't love a delicious mixture to dip your chips into?
Simple to make, easier to eat!
Use any dish or multiple dishes that has sides.
Open up two cans of refried beans (original or black beans) - you can use them cold or heat them on the stove first - either way, add 1-2 Tablespoons of taco seasoning (1 can, 1 Tbsp or 2 cans, 2 Tbsp)
Spread the refried beans into the dishes first.
Then layer with:
guacamole, sour cream, salsa, shredded cheese (Mexican blend works great), diced fresh tomatoes, sliced black olives, chopped cilantro and diced green onions and/or jalapenos.
Serve with favorite tortilla chips and even those yummy, sturdy vegetables

Easy Buffalo Chicken Sliders (12-24)
Pick up a Rotisserie chicken or two and shred it (4-8 cups)
Add your favorite wing sauce (1-2 cups)
We recommend Wing Time, but pick one you enjoy and the heat you desire.
Mix the chicken and the wing sauce to your desired consistency.
Grab a cookie sheet and line it with parchment paper or use a 9x13 pan (greased with butter)
Take your slider buns (12-24) and place all the "bottoms" of the buns on the sheet or pan.
Cover the bottoms with your favorite sliced cheese (Pepper jack for extra kick or mozzarella keeps it simple)
Next place your buffalo chicken mixture on top of the cheese, as much as you like really
You can add jalapenos or onion slices
Next place the "tops" of the slider buns on
Melt a Tablespoon or two of butter and brush each bun top with it
Place in the oven at 375 degrees for 12-18 minutes until cheese is melted and the tops of the slider buns are toasted enough (check often)
Serve with bleu cheese or ranch dressing on the side as this is can be dipped into or easily drizzled on.
Serve with celery and carrots sticks, and plenty of napkins.

These dishes can be very filling and satisfying!

Wonderful sides to have out with these are:
Veggie Trays
Dips and Hummus

Oh and don't forget the wine!!

Wine for a group - Feel good about getting a Bota Box!
These are not only a great deal, but actually a quality wine in a box!

Prefer Bottled Wine? We suggest an off-dry sparkling wine (such as a Moscato d'Asti or a Lambrusco)and you can't go wrong with a Zinfandel or a Pinot Noir!
The key to most hot and spicy foods is to serve your wine chilled, even your reds!

Have a FUN and SAFE Super Bowl Sunday - no matter where you are or who you're with!
